Department prepares bachelors and masters within the speciality “Computer Sciences” in specializations “Informatics” and “Information Security and Cyber Security”.

In its teaching and methodical practice the Department seeks training of highly qualified specialists in the area of development and application of information – analytical systems for decision -making based on modern information technology, computer technology and mathematical and numerical modeling tools.

Initial training involves mastering a body of knowledge and practical skills for solving problems of providing of information technology services and resources in the socio – economical, environmental, scientific fields and other activity areas.

The department was established in 1995.

The following problems are being investigated by the department:

  • design of information-analytical and geoinformational systems for creation
    of land ownership cadaster and city-building cadaster, natural resources monitoring
    and protection;
  • design ad development of information systems for corporate networks basing
    upon “client-server” architecture and intranet technologies;
  • finite element method, a posteriori error estimators, lower and upper bounds of error estimations, h– and hp-adaptive finite element schemes;
  • development and implementation of grid-projective schemes for computational
    experiments for non-stationary problems:

    • interaction of electromagnetic and mechanical fields within pyro- and piezoelectric;
    • interaction of temperature and mechanical fields within elastic bodies and shells;
    • acoustic interaction of liquids with elastic bodies and shells;
    • solute migration in atmosphere, surface, subsurface and soil water.

Topics of scientific researches of members of the department:

  • Grid-projective schemes for solution of variational problems for parabolic and hyperbolic equations; a posteriori error estimators, lower and upper bounds of error estimations, h– and hp-adaptive finite element schemes (prof. H. Shynkarenko);
  • Design of geoinformational systems for city-building cadaster management; development of interval algorithms for solution of boundary value problems, (prof. P. Vengerskyi);
  • Projecting of information-analythical systems of land resources monitoring and management; mathematical modeling of flexible multi-layer shell behavior (associate prof. P. Vahin);
  • Design of information systems based upon “client-server” architecture ; object-oriented technologies of implementation of numerical schemes, mathematical modeling of slope and riverbed flowing (associate prof. V. Vovk );
  • Design and develpment of information systems; grid-projective methods for the problems of dissipative acoustics (associate prof. V. Horlatch).

We invite you to a series of two lectures on biomathematics by Prof. Volkmar Liebscher

23.04.2025 | 15:53

On April 29 and May 2 at 3:00 PM, lectures by Prof. Volkmar Liebscher from the University of Greifswald (Germany) will be held via the link in MS Teams
29.04 A broad view on biomathematics
Link to the lecture in MS Teams
02.05 Deriving analytical properties of biomathematical models by algebraic means
Ordinary differential equations serve as a versatile model for many biological scenarios. Though it is easy to simulate the model numerically, it is often hard to determine  the qualitative  behavior  of the...
