Academic partnership with Pharo Consortium
Ivan Franko National University of Lviv has recently joined the Pharo Consortium as an Academic Member
The platform of cooperation is the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Informatics.
The goal of the Pharo Consortium is to allow companies and institutions to support the ongoing development and future of Pharo. Pharo is a modern, open-source, dynamically typed object-oriented language and at the same time it is the development environment supporting live coding inspired by Smalltalk.
For many years, the Department of Programming provides courses of Smalltalk, translated into Ukrainian educational literature, and uses Pharo for research and bachelor’s and master’s theses. Dr. Stéphane Ducasse, one of the founders of Pharo, head of the RMoD research group at the Inria Institute in Lille, France, visited the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Informatics several times with open lectures on OOP.
Individuals can support Pharo via the Pharo Association: http://association.pharo.org/
