Course description

Aim. Presentation of theoretical backgrounds for methodology of economic forecasting and planning that is used to solve economic problems. Highlight the requirements to expert systems; study the basic tenets of technical analysis and the scope of their application.

Summary. The course covers the following topics: methodology of economic forecasting and planning, their classification and characteristic; assessment of forecast quality in the decision making process; the method of extrapolation; modeling as a forecasting method; expert forecasting method; generation of ideas.

Target. Master the basic theoretical principles of economic forecasting and planning in the production management system. Get acquainted with the construction process of economic-statistical models that are used for economic phenomena and processes. Organization and conduction of an expert survey, its analysis.

After completion of this course a student should

  • know: the main aspects of optimal decisions selection in the current economic conditions;
  • be able to: create a model of the national economy.
